COVID wedding yard decor; wooden sign reading "Love is patient. Love is kind." surrounded by mums and pumpkins.

Ah, a bride’s wedding day. The planning, the expenses, and the dress! Oh, yes. And the global pandemic to make it all go to hell. No, really. That’s what happened to me and thousands of other marriage-hopefuls in the year 2020 when COVID-19 took over our wedding plans. I had wished for someone to do it before me so I knew my wedding could be done safely. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. But now, with a wedding band on my finger–I’m ready to share my COVID Bride Guide.

You had a wedding during COVID?!

Yes, dear reader. I did in fact say I do in front of a crowd of mask-wearing members of the congregation.

I wasn’t prepared to throw in the towel right away on my happily-ever-after. When news hit that my hometown had its first case of COVID-19 in March 2020, I said “No problem–this has to be done by October.” Then, March became April… April became daily panic attacks and meaningless fights with my fiancé. Before I knew it it was the end of June and vendors wanted to know, are we doing this thing?

We made up our mind–we being my mother and I because let’s face it– we were the duo who had dreamed of this day. My man was just along for the ride.

So, we went forth with our very COVID wedding–moving a bridal shower and wedding to the same venue for safety’s sake–my parent’s backyard.

Did I have to wear a mask on my wedding day? Did fire ants ruin the reception? Did I pull off my happily-ever-after? Stay tuned to the COVID Bride Guide where I’ll tell you how I did it all.
